Maintenance of laminate |
It is very simple to maintain laminate floors. It is easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or simply wiped with a damp rag. However, if the dirt is more than an ordinary dust or dirt from the street, then you need to use stronger substances. For example, felt-tip pen, glue or shoe polish can be removed using a household soap or any other special substance used for cleaning laminate floor coverings. Such substances can be bought from any manufacturer or person selling laminates. While choosing a cleaning substance, make sure it is not meant for silicone mastic or wax because such substances are not suitable for cleaning deep dirt. They do not penetrate through laminate, and so it is quite possible that after using them on a floor, unsightly stains will remain. You should abstain from using metal sponges because they create scratches on the surface of laminate. Cleaning substances containing alkaline should also be avoided because they may corrode the floor. It is better to use those cleaning substances recommended by laminate manufacturers.
If the flooring is seriously deformed, then it will be difficult to repair it without damaging the drawing texture. In such case, the entire flooring is usually changed. But if there are no resources, then you can simply move the damaged flooring to a place where it will not be so noticeable, for example, under the sofa. Similar replacement can be done when the floor is worn out in the hall. It would be enough to change the positions of the worn-out floorings with those located in the corners of the house. The hall is the place where the laminate wears out most, and so it is advisable to protect the floor with pile rug. It is also recommended to glue felt linings on the legs of furniture.
