Installing laminate flooring |
Before installing laminate flooring, it is necessary to check all its parts for any flaws, damages, etc. In addition, it is recommended to keep cover in the center of the room under stable temperature and humidity at least two days before installing the laminate flooring. It is necessary so that the covering can adapt to the conditions of its future laying.
There is an instruction paper in each pack of laminate about the recommendations for laying it. It is better for you to read the instruction thoroughly if you plan to do the installation by yourself.
Depending on the disposition of the room, the installing should be done longitudinally and in the direction of light. Seams would be more noticeable if light falls directly to the layering. The floor on which parquet laying would be done, plays a major role. If it is a concrete floor, then it is necessary first to lay polyethylene film, which would ensure vapour insulation from the residual humidity of tie bolt. After that, a sound-absorbing plate is spread on which the laminate is mounted. If the foundation is a linoleum or wood, then you can do without vapour insulation.
The installing starts after all the preparatory measures have been taken. It starts with the formation of first row of two boards, with the mounting of the cleat wedges that create a free space between the laminate and the wall (usually 0.7-1.5cm). The space ensures the wall would not disturb the laminate from widening after the laying; otherwise, it could stand on end. For loose fastening, laminates are laid with lock on themselves. Do not forget that while laying the laminate, the installing should be made on half of the board or with a board displacement of not less than 20cm apart because this would ensure an even distribution of pressure exerted during expansion or contraction of the laminate. If the laminate is laid in big layers, it is necessary to provide compensative seams. Plinth is mounted after the laying of floor covering.
