Kinds of laminate |
A laminate covering could be made of glue or without. A glue laminate is also called a “lock”. It is good because it does not require any professional tools, and boards simply “click” with each other while laying. The bases for such laminate are the plates, which are highly flexible and durable, and these help it provide stability to the floor without glue in the slots. Due to convenience, today glueless laminate is preferable to glue laminate. However, glue laminate has its advantages. For example, it is suitable for rooms with high humidity because the glue prevents moisture from penetrating into seams whereas the glueless laminate is preferably laid only in dry places.
Laminate is undergoing eighteen different tests including tests for abrasion, sound insulation, resistance to mechanical damage, etc. Different types of laminate differ on these parameters. The area where the laminate would be placed determines which laminate to choose. Resistance to abrasion is determined by the revolution speed of an abrasive wheel pressed to the surface of the laminate. There are three parameters namely IP, FP and AT. IP shows through how many revolutions would there appear signs of abrasion. FP is the revolution speed at which abrasion would be 95%. AT is the arithmetic mean between the first and second. The higher these figures, the better. Division concerning wear resistance is classified. A class 33 laminate is recommended for places of intensive walking (shops, etc.). Class 21 laminate is recommended for households with low intensity walking (bedroom).
